Kelly Services is actively recruiting for a Lab Technician for a Long Term Contract opportunity in Lake Jackson, TX.

Lab technician position in the Process Characterization R&D group. The job will involve testing according to established procedures; independently once some training is completed, but with guidance/support from Technologists and Research Scientists as needed. 

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Responsible to operate and maintain a range of process analyzers (e.g. OCS 19 and OCS-20 Film Analyzers; Gottfert DMelt equipment; PS 25 C black speck analyzer). Safely, timely, and autonomously using established procedures.

  • Primary contact to receive samples and requests from clients and customers, and report results to them for analysis in the scope of the role.

  • Work with colleagues, stakeholders and clients to prioritize work and update queues with requests.  

  • Perform first line support troubleshooting and repair activities in the instruments in scope.

  • Support the global MAT Team network to manage the availability of reference polymers.

  • Ordering of gaylords and pallets of resins which must be tested for homogeneity in support of the Global Polymer Reference Program.

  • Submission (using PRISM) and distribution of reference samples to the various laboratories in scope of the global polymer reference program.

  • Responsible for the storage of reference samples in an air conditioned warehouse room. 

  • Collection of packages which are addressed to the Process Characterization Group, transferring them to the MOD36 Lab and notifying their arrival to the appropriate contact person inside the group. 

  • Support the activities to manage and maintain the transport vehicle that the Process Characterization group uses to transport samples and retrieve references from the warehouse.

  • Responsible for the all the sample shipment activities performed by the Process Characterization R&D group.

  • Submission of sample shipment requests into the R&D RDSIMS system, making sure the appropriate administration and paperwork is produced and delivered, and samples get cleared for shipment.

  • Responsible for the appropriate expense reporting of sample shipment charges. 

  • Support the Lab Owner of the MOD 36 Process Characterization R&D Laboratory in HHD. Responsible for lab housekeeping and sample management activities in the facility.

  • Comply with the assigned MTL tasks and the mandatory testing of showers in the MOD 36 Process Characterization R&D Laboratory in HHD.  

  • Adhere to Dow’s high standards for conduct in the workplace.        

  • Propose and implement safety improvements.

  • Technical – Skilled in extrusion and the fabrication of films for at-line testing. Skilled in the use and troubleshooting of at-line testing equipment (both hardware and software). Able to performs basic mathematical calculations; effectively uses computer/software systems; completes data reports effectively.

  • Safety – Understands and follows the appropriate safety rules and guidelines. Basic knowledge of MSDS information and good practices to handle chemicals.
