Job Opportunity: Mechanical Project Engineer for Small Capital Projects

Requirement: Rotating Equipment experience
Location: Norco, LA
Duration: 2-5 years
Benefits: Excellent benefits, competitive hourly rate, OT pay, and 9-80 schedule with every other Friday working from home.

Job Description:

Join a dynamic team in the Technology Department supporting the development and execution of small capital projects ranging from $0.2 to $25 million. This role involves managing 8 to 15 projects of varying size and complexity, focusing on both chemical and energy (refining) assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Design Development: Lead the creation of process design documents, including project premise and basis of design, and validate business cases for complex projects.

  • Project Management: Develop front-end deliverables, such as flow rates, compositions, product specifications, and ensure projects progress through various stage gates.

  • Technical Leadership: Manage an integrated technical team to deliver final process designs, including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment data sheets, and safeguarding studies.

  • Stakeholder Alignment: Support the Project Manager in aligning key stakeholders and lead resolution of key process design investigations.

  • Commissioning Support: Follow projects through to commissioning and start-up, providing ongoing technical support and participating in reviews, MOCs, and HAZOPs.

Specific Duties:

  • Prepare mark ups of PFDs and P&IDs.

  • Develop scopes of work for engineering firms.

  • Ensure accurate documentation for safe equipment operation.

  • Lead and facilitate design-related investigations.

  • Provide process/technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Dimensions:

  • Lead project teams through front-end development.

  • Develop project scopes of work, basis of design, and secure funding.

  • Enhance leadership skills by directing process engineering teams and mentoring others.

  • Interface with multiple stakeholders to manage varying needs and priorities.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering. Other disciplines considered with appropriate experience.

  • Must have ROTATING EQUIPMENT experience

  • Experience: Preferred 5+ years supporting chemical or refining manufacturing sites, with project work process familiarity.

  • Skills: Strong curiosity, adept at asking probing questions to develop project scope, excellent communication, interpersonal, conflict management, and negotiation skills.
