Kelly Engineering is seeking motivated Chemical Engineers to join our dynamic team on a long-term contract basis. This role focuses on supporting refining and petrochemical processes, ensuring safety, and driving project development from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of refinery operations, strong project management skills, and experience in process safety and operational roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support refinery and petrochemical plant processes.

  • Conduct front-end project development, economic feasibility studies, and heat/material balances.

  • Ensure compliance with process safety management, including MOC and HAZOP.

  • Lead and facilitate teams in refining units, addressing operational challenges and stakeholder needs.

  • Write and present economic proposals, following economic modeling and assumptions.

  • Gradually take on larger projects, starting with 1-5 million USD and moving up to 20-25 million USD projects.

  • Manage interactions with various teams, focusing on process safety and operational excellence.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in the chemical engineering industry, preferably in refineries or petrochemical plants.

  • Proven understanding of refinery operations and key processes like distillation and fractionation.

  • Experience in front-end project development, economic feasibility studies, and writing technical proposals.

  • Strong background in process safety management, including MOC and HAZOP.

  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to facilitate and manage diverse teams.

  • Willingness to work on-site in Norco, Louisiana, and potentially relocate if necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in project management, particularly around compressors and pumps.

  • Operational experience in production management or supporting refining units.

  • Flexibility to adapt to high workloads and tight deadlines, especially towards the end of fiscal periods.
