Full time direct hire opportunity in Shreveport, LA for a Manufacturing Quality Engineer. 5-7 years of manufacturing & quality experience required and accustomed to high speed manufacturing.
The Engineering Manager will consider a recent engineering graduate.
This is a hands on position – 70% floor
Client interface
Required to sit in on meetings, respond to clients, and maintain internal communications between other departments and floor
Periodic client visits
Salary $65k -$120K

This individual should be a skilled and experienced Engineer who will participate in internal and external audits, and the timely and effective execution of any resulting actions, or Lead Solve by Sundown investigations, as needed.
 

Responsible for but not limited to:

  • Manage all quality-related issues within the manufacturing team (e.g. internal, supplier, customer and customer warranty)

  • Lead Supplier Quality Management. Work with Purchasing and Suppliers to improve overall Quality

  • Collect, analyze, and explain data to broader team

  • Multitask and “complete the loop” of root cause and communicate ?ndings

  • Use Lean tools to problem solve (5-Why, 8D, Similar)

  • Initiate permanent corrective actions for product quality issues and communicate ?ndings

  • Compose work instructions and inspection procedures for various processes

  • Point of contact for non-conforming products/investigations

  • Participate in corrective action discussions to improve quality, manufacturability, and cost

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement program

  • Communicate Quality Alerts through PowerPoint Presentations

  • Develop Cost Savings

  • Be Hands on, Work on Shop Floor Daily with hot and cold conditions

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong computer skills in MS Office. ISO knowledge is a plus

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing

  • Previous Quality and Manufacturing experience

  • Ability to effectively communicate across all levels, from contractors to the board room

  • Ability to gather, analyze and present quality-related data through presentations and verbal/written communication

  • Self- starter with the ability to work independently with minimal daily direction

  • Enjoys the challenges of manufacturing engineering, with a focus on uptime, root cause analysis, team building, cycle times, one-piece ?ow, and value stream mapping

  • Ability to make decisions and knows where to focus their efforts to improve processes and motivate teams

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, or mechanical engineering, or 5 years of quality engineering experience in manufacturing facilities.

  • Experience in a Fluid Packaging Facility (HDPE bottles/pails/caps, Corrugate, Stretch Wrap, Date Coders, Box Formers, etc.)

  • Experience in a high speed, multitasking and fast paced environment.
