Kelly is seeking a Buyer to work with our international manufacturing client on a direct hire basis at their production facility in Barnwell, SC. The Buyer will:

  • Follow all established SOPs for Purchasing Department posted on SharePoint

  • Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest price and in correct amounts

  • Prepare purchase orders with appropriate cost, delivery, and payment terms

  • Research and evaluate new vendors based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, delivery, and payment terms

  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships, visit vendor production facilities, and resolve vendor claims as they arise

  • Maintain raw material purchasing grids monthly, and monitor changes affecting supply and demand, tracking market conditions, price trends and raw material price indices

  • Cooperate with production, planning, shipping, receiving, warehousing, accounts payable, inventory/costing, and maintenance departments as needed

  • Assist with new product trials and cost reduction initiatives as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field with 2+ years of experience (5+ years of related experience may be considered in lieu of the degree)

  • 2+ years of purchasing experience

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing manufacture and distribution of goods.

  • ASCM certifications or documented progress towards certification a plus

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint necessary

  • SAP experience highly desirable

  • Must be collaborative and have a proven track record of positive team player characteristics

  • Demonstrated success in accountability and the ability to perform in stressful environment with multiple production schedule changes

  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to interact with personnel at all levels effectively through written, spoken and presentation methods

  • Must be an active listener as well as show the ability to influence others during key decision making

  • Candidate will be exposed to loud noise that may exceed 87 decibels
