Pay Rate: $35 per hour

What’s a typical day as a  Logistics Claims Specialist ? You’ll be:

  • Determines salvage allowance (10-15%) in order to help mitigate claim losses of carriers and ensure claim resolution on behalf of the division.

  • Will be responsible for approving salvage allowances negotiated by Jr. Associates.

  • Oversee claims process for division and act as a main point of contact for training and guidance.

  • Responsible for the development of training documents which are distributed and utilized across all US Foods divisions.

  • Analyze documents submitted by divisions and determine appropriate method of investigation ensuring that fault is clearly established against correct party (carrier or vendor).

  • First point of escalation on freight claim related issues

  • Assist Supervisor and manager with Jr. Associate annual reviews.

  • Modifies and implements claims process procedures in conjunction to supervisor and manager.

  • Work closely with Supervisor and Manager on claims which are disputed by carriers, vendors, or divisions in order to find resolution.

  • Conduct extensive research and analysis to determine trends such as temperature abuse, shortages, damages etc., and alert internal stakeholders such as Carrier Development, and or Category Managers of said issues in order to find root cause and resolution.

  • Responsible for maintaining a 95% collection rate for claims filed with carriers; overall collection rate is based on $3 M/annual claims filed against carriers.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:

  • Minimum of 5 years logistics and transportation experience required.

  • Prior claims experience required.

  • Experience in a food service/distribution setting preferred.

  • Excellent customer service skills, ability to interact positively with a wide variety of employees at all levels.

  • Demonstrated effective negotiating skills with ability to analyze and organize facts into useful knowledge.

  • High degree of coordination, planning and organizational skills required.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Has thorough working knowledge of Carmack Amendment and PACA in order to determine financial responsibility of freight claim on produce and non produce claims
