Pay rate: $16.96 per hour
Length: 1 month possible opportunity for contract extension
Work Schedule: Monday – Thursday – 1:00pm-8:00pm

What’s a typical day as a Library Technician? You’ll be:

  • Providing circulation, interlibrary loan, and reserve desk services to on-campus and remote users, assisting students and faculty in locating library materials, and addressing patron concerns and complaints.

  • Assisting with the input and updating of online circulation, reserve, and interlibrary loan records following standard format.

  • Verifying interlibrary loan requests and locating local holding libraries, maintaining accurate interlibrary loan reports, files, and statistics.

  • Assisting with maintenance of loose-leaf services, preparing and processing library materials for the bindery, and handling basic repairs.

  • Managing periodical maintenance and preparing library materials for correct shelving order and circulation.

  • Providing clerical support for the library, including ordering supplies, reporting equipment problems, processing mail, and scheduling and billing for library services.

  • Operating and maintaining office equipment, arranging for service when necessary.

  • Assisting in training and directing college student personnel with appropriate approval.

  • Attending meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc., as required.

  • Assisting library faculty with answering user questions, providing referrals, and assuming responsibility for the operation of public rooms.

  • Tracking and resolving issues related to automated library systems and library services platform.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Have successfully completed a minimum of six (6) college credits in Library Science.

  • Have one (1) year of experience in a library setting with demonstrated customer service experience.

  • Possess strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Are detail-oriented and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

  • Are willing to work additional hours, as needed.
