Student Support Specialist I – Registrar’s Office
Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Shift: Full-Time (8:30am – 5:00pm)
Compensation: $18.66 /hour

Job Summary:
The Student Support Specialist I provides support and assists in all aspects of student enrollment processes. This role involves performing clerical duties in counseling and enrollment services, and the employee is expected to work as a team player in a multi-cultural, diverse working environment.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Understand and utilize the Student Information System (SIS), Customer Relationship Management systems (CRM), and the College website, as appropriate.

  • Seeks information within the College to answer questions.

  • Address incoming calls and emails from students (prospective, current, and former), other college departments and from the community.

  • Process, record, and maintain student records and files; system data, and documentation to identify and resolves issues relating to student records utilizing the current Document Management System.

  • Assists Registrar in reviewing change-of-grade forms for completeness and accuracy; processes approved grade changes and other departmental forms in the Student Information Systems (SIS).

  • Reviews and evaluates college transcripts for transferable credit; proofreads, reviews accuracy of transferred credits, and records evaluations for inclusion in student files; evaluates transcripts for completion of graduation requirements.

  • Verifies student enrollments and loan deferments, answers subpoenas, and processes appropriate paperwork (such as transcript requests, tuition verifications, duplicate diploma request, etc.).

  • Handles various correspondence and assists in preparing mailings (i.e., stuffing envelopes, applying labels to envelopes/college publications, etc.)

  • Assist Student Services departments in the collection of information.

  • Assist in college campaigns related to enrollment and retention.

  • Operates office equipment.

  • Trains and directs college student personnel with appropriate approval.

  • Performs related tasks, as assigned.

  • Ability to work additional hours, as needed

 Requirements:

  • Minimum of 24 credits College credits in Business Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or Business Administration (BUS1100, BUS 2030, BUS 2530, MKT 2520, ACC 1800, ACC 1810, ACC 1820 and CIS 1050)

  • Associates Degree AND Successful completion of Language Arts and Math

  • Computer keyboard proficiency : 50wpm

  • Two years of customer service experience

  • Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers and fax machines

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
