Kelly Science & Clinical is excited to connect you to this Seasonal Laboratory Technician opportunity at a global viticulture company in Modesto, CA.

  • Job Title: Laboratory Technician (Seasonal) – Modesto, CA

  • Shift: Day Shift, Monday – Friday, approximately 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Approx. Time)

  • Pay: $21/hour (DOE)

Summary:
The Seasonal Laboratory Technician will perform physical and chemical analyses on grapes, grape products, alcoholic beverages, water, and related materials during the harvest season. Under general supervision, this role requires adherence to safety protocols and quality systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform routine analyses using techniques such as distillation, titration, colorimetry, and various instrumental methods.

  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments, including gas chromatographs, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and atomic absorption spectrometers.

  • Analyze and process laboratory samples, ensuring accurate prioritization and timely reporting of results.

  • Enter test results promptly into the laboratory information management system (LIMS).

  • Prepare chemical solutions and manage the disposal of chemical waste in compliance with safety guidelines.

  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.

  • Assist with special projects, sample collection, cleaning, and record-keeping as needed.

  • Collect and process grape and wine samples from various winery locations.

  • Utilize electronic devices for communication, data analysis, and report generation.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree with at least 12 college units in Chemistry or Biology, OR currently pursuing a degree with similar requirements, OR a High School Diploma with 3 years of relevant laboratory experience.

  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work flexible shifts, including overtime and weekends.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Viticulture/Enology, or Microbiology, with 1 year of laboratory technician experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Familiarity with safety regulations and laboratory operating manuals.

  • Strong mathematical skills and practical problem-solving abilities.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Physical Demands:
This role requires regular standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting of sample bottles. The position may involve climbing stairs and requires close vision and depth perception.

Work Environment:
Primarily in a laboratory setting, with occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to loud.
