Director of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Operations 
(Remote)

Our client, a leading developer and operator of RNG production facilities, is seeking a highly motivated Director of Operations to oversee their growing portfolio of facilities across the Midwest.

Overview:
In this critical role, you will be responsible for the overall success of the company’s RNG production operations. You will be responsible for staffing, training, retaining and overseeing a team of on-farm operators, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable production of RNG from dairy waste. You will also collaborate closely with various internal departments, including Engineering, Asset Management, Finance, and Regulatory Compliance, to optimize operations and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of RNG production facilities, ensuring adherence to all safety, quality, and environmental standards.

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of on-farm operators with expertise in electro-mechanical, digester operations, chemical, and biological processes.

  • Develop and implement annual operating plans in collaboration with engineering and asset management.

  • Identify opportunities to optimize production, improve uptime, and reduce costs.

  • Manage project-related expenses and budgets.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and identify best practices across the fleet.

  • Build strong relationships with vendors, partners, and stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and permits governing RNG production.

  • Conduct regular site visits to assess operations and ensure safety protocols are followed.

  • Analyze performance data and identify opportunities for growth and efficiency gains.

  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for consistent and safe operations.

  • Support the ongoing refinement of the company’s field safety programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical, or similar) or Construction (preferred).

  • 15+ years of experience in field service management, leading operating teams in the Oil & Gas, Renewable Gas, or other process-related industry (required).

  • Strong understanding of anaerobic digestion and gas upgrading processes.

  • Proven ability to design and implement processes and procedures for safe and efficient operations.

  • Experience with relevant process equipment, components, and SCADA systems.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

  • Passion for clean energy and a track record of delivering results.

  • Willingness to travel 50% or more of the time to remote locations (ideal candidate will live close to a major airport).
