Financial Aid Specialist – College in Royal Oak

Pay Rate: $20.51 per hour
Work Schedule: MF 8:30am-5:00pm
Length of Contract: December 20, 2025

What’s a typical day as a Financial Aid Specialist? You’ll be:

  • Providing information and assisting in all aspects of the financial aid process.

  • Performing technical duties to accomplish the functions of the Student Financial Resources and Scholarship Department.

  • Advising and coaching students from diverse backgrounds through the financial aid application process.

  • Facilitating pre-awarding eligibility determination, verification, and handling any ineligibility issues.

  • Updating student files, verifying codes, and adjusting checklists as necessary.

  • Making corrections and assisting in the verification of students’ FAFSA applications.

  • Evaluating and processing the Return of Title IV Funds and other financial aid awards.

  • Troubleshooting and investigating inquiries to determine resolutions.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:

  • Have an earned Associate Degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems OR Any Associate Degree or higher with 16 college credit hours in Accounting, Business Administration (BUS 1100, BUS 2030, BUS 2530, MKT 2520, ACC 1800, ACC 1810, ACC 1820 and CIS 1050), Business Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems

  • Have two (2) years of customer service experience.

  • Possess knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Are proficient in using technology such as Outlook, ACD phones, federal and state software, Colleague, Communication Management, and Student Forms.

  • Can effectively assist veteran students with VA benefits and applications.
