Job Summary:
As a Light Gauge Welder, you will be responsible for fitting and welding sheet metal parts to meet the specifications of each job. You will work with materials ranging from .060 thick to 1/4 thick. Must have experience in 12-16 gauge.
Job Specifications:
– Job Type: Full-time
– Pay: $23/hr
– Shift: 7-3:30pm M-F
– Location: Newport News, VA
Roles and Responsibilities:
– Fit and weld sheet metal parts according to work orders, customer drawings, sample parts, and completed assemblies
– Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
– Weld using steel, aluminum, and other alloys as required
– Perform tasks such as clamping, holding, tack-welding, heat-bending, grinding, or bolting component parts to achieve the desired configurations and positions for welding breakdowns, and performing preventive maintenance
– Stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat, reach, and perform repetitive hand and finger movements
Qualifications & Skills:
– Previous experience as a Precision Mig Welder, preferably working with light gauge material
– Proficient in welding techniques for various materials, including steel, aluminum, and alloys
– Ability to read and interpret work orders, customer drawings, and specifications
– Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality welds
– Familiarity with calipers, straightedges, templates, and other measuring tools
