Job Title: Facilities Manager
Location: Brantford, ON
Reports to: Director of Operations
Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary Range: $110,000k- $130,000k

Job Summary:
The Plant Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of the plant facilities. This includes managing all aspects of facility operations such as maintenance, equipment management, and facility upgrades. The role requires ensuring compliance with safety regulations, optimizing facility resources, and leading a team of maintenance and operations staff to support the overall productivity of the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of plant facilities, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

  • Ensure all equipment and systems are functioning efficiently and meet safety standards.

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and reduce repair costs.

  • Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations to ensure high levels of staff competency and productivity.

  • Schedule and coordinate maintenance work to minimize disruption to plant operations.

  • Ensure all plant facilities comply with local, Provincial, and Federal regulations, including OSHA and environmental standards.

  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, addressing any issues promptly.

  • Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Prepare and manage the facilities budget, including forecasting costs for repairs, maintenance, and facility upgrades.

  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers to optimize costs and ensure high-quality service.

  • Monitor expenditures and identify opportunities for cost savings.

  • Plan and oversee facility renovations, expansions, and new construction projects.

  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and architects to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to facility operations, including energy efficiency initiatives.

  • Maintain accurate records of facility equipment and assets.

  • Ensure proper inventory levels of maintenance supplies and equipment.

  • Manage the lifecycle of facility assets, including procurement, maintenance, and disposal.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

  • Proven experience in managing a team and overseeing multiple facility functions.

  • Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Proficiency in facilities management software and systems.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage budgets and negotiate contracts.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work in a plant environment with exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and other conditions typical of a manufacturing facility.

  • May require occasional evening or weekend work to address emergency maintenance issues.
