Kelly’s customer is looking for a Settlement Analyst to join their team on a temp to permanent basis.  You will report to the Manager, Settlement, and will be responsible for performing daily activities within the settlement area of the Finance Department. This position requires a thorough understanding of ATM and Point-of-Sale transactions, operation of banking/payment networks, complex reconciliations, bank reconciliations, accounting principles and settlement reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily reconciliation of SCD and POS transactions to ensure accurate and timely processing of bank transactions. 

  • Execute network reconciliation tasks to validate and match transactional data from various sources, ensuring accurate financial records.

  • Perform daily and weekly BNM adjustments to reconcile discrepancies and maintain the integrity of financial data.

  • Calculate the monthly 3-day average balance for the Credit Union.

  • Responsible for providing cover off for any team member by gaining a comprehensive understanding of all settlement team processes.

  • Respond to client inquiries and escalate issues, as necessary.

  • Assist with activities related to enhanced settlement manuals and reporting.

  • Engage with external entities and internal departments to address settlement-related issues and ensure smooth operations.

  • Assist the Settlement Manger with all bank reconciliations.

  • Support with departmental settlement activities and can adapt to process changes and regulatory changes.

  • Weekly Settlement AFT batches and greater involvement in daily payment methods such as ACSS, LVTS, ACH, etc.

  • Assist the Settlement manager with projects in providing mock-ups for settlement reports and reviewing the QA results.

Requirements:

  • University degree in commerce, mathematics, preferably with a major in accounting and mathematics.

  • 3+ years of experience in the banking/payment industry which includes ATM, Point-of-Sale, eCommerce and eTransfer transactions.

  • Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively communicate and interact with other teams and clients in various circumstances.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to identify problems and drive to resolution.

  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and results-oriented.

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and multi-task effectively.

  • Demonstrated experience in the following areas:

  • Advanced Excel.

  • Accounting reconciliations.

  • Procedural improvements.

  • Knowledge in financial payment methods and payment operations including settlement operations, reconciliation and exception handling processes.

  • Able to prepare and update complex reconciliations.

  • Experience reading and interpreting output form highly-detailed data reports.

  • Proficiency working with multiple computer applications and/or payment network applications.

  • Banking or Credit Card industry related experience will be considered an asset.
