  • Pay Rate: $30 – $38 / hour – will depend on experience  

Summary

Kelly Services is hiring a Facilities Maintenance Technician for our client in Carlsbad. The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs routine and preventative maintenance on laboratory production/development equipment and systems to ensure proper function within specifications. Performs simple to complex repairs, calibrations, testing, and modifications of equipment and systems. Troubleshoot and diagnose causes of equipment failures and apply corrective actions. Resolve equipment breakdowns in efforts to minimize downtime. Perform rebuilds, installations, qualifications, and upgrades. Operate various test instruments and special test fixtures. Develop testing procedures and strategies.


Essential Functions

1. Ensures quality and consistency in production processes by assessing, modifying, repairing, and/or calibrating equipment.
2. Ensures efficiency and productivity by evaluating and modifying production processes and/or equipment.
3. Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves issues with equipment, devices, or products; uses precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to make adjustments.
4. Supports Laboratory Personnel with maintaining inventory levels of Lab Supplies.
5. Responds quickly to requests from Lab Personnel for assistance with equipment.
6. Drafts and maintains Maintenance Logs and procedures.
7. Assists in compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, and best practices.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to clearly communicate with Lab and Manufacturing personnel, Engineering, Facilities, Technical Support, and Management.
2. Thorough understanding of equipment used in R&D and Production Manufacturing.
3. Understanding of Calibration and Preventative Maintenance Schedules.
4. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
5. Excellent time management skills, able to meet deadlines.
6. Self-starter with a strong attention to detail.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
8. Basic Mechanical knowledge – pneumatics, electrical, and hardware.
9. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience

1. Associate degree or postsecondary certificate in a related discipline is a plus but not required.
2. Two years of related experience required.
3. Some mechanical experience.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional laboratory, office environment, and warehouse.

Physical Demands

1. Prolonged periods of standing and, at times, sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
2. Must be able to lift forty pounds at times.
3. Manual dexterity to evaluate, install, and modify equipment.
