Job Title: Experienced Forensic Questioned Document Examiner
Location: Florida or Michigan preferred

Job Type: Full-Time Direct Hire

Job Description:

Our client, an established forensic investigation firm, is seeking a highly skilled Forensic Questioned Document Examiner to join our team on a full-time (W2) basis. You will be responsible for analyzing a wide range of documents, including handwriting, signatures, typewriting, printing processes, alterations, and related tasks. The ideal candidate will have expert witness experience and a thorough understanding of legal processes. We are only interested in candidates who have prior experience and proficiency in court testimony. Preferred location of Florida or Michigan, but alternative remote location is possible. Any location will require travel for casework.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive forensic examinations of documents to determine authenticity, alterations, and other pertinent factors.

  • Utilize specialized techniques and equipment to analyze handwriting, signatures, papers, and printing processes.

  • Examine documents for signs that they have been forged or altered.

  • Compare signatures and handwriting through handwriting analysis to determine the authorship of documents.

  • Examine typed documents and link them to specific machines or computers (printing process examinations)

  • Perform alternate light source examinations to determine ink discrimination, alterations, and/or enhancements.

  • Prepare detailed reports outlining findings and conclusions in a clear and concise manner.

  • Collaborate closely with attorneys, investigators, and other stakeholders to provide expert consultation and testimony as needed.

  • Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation.

  • Stay current on developments in forensic document examination techniques and methodologies.

 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science field, a master’s degree preferred.

  • Certification and track record of proficiency testing as a government-trained Forensic Document Examiner is highly desirable.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in forensic document examination, such as handwriting analysis and general questioned document analysis.

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Prior experience serving as an expert witness in legal proceedings is preferred.

  • Membership in a local or national forensic organization is preferred.
