Mechanical Engineering Technician
6 Month Maternity Leave Contract Assignment – $26/hr to $28/hr
Summary:
This position involves assisting with the assembly and testing of engineering prototypes, maintaining lab equipment, and contributing to mechanical design concepts within the field of cell and sequencing technology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assemble and test engineering prototypes.
- Collaborate with engineers on technical feasibility projects.
- Maintain and monitor sequencer, lab instrumentation, and maintenance schedules.
- Provide support for laboratory equipment and site-related engineering topics.
- Coordinate laboratory work with external experts and lab technicians.
- Assist the engineering team with troubleshooting lab instrumentation.
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Systems, Optical, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field).
- Minimum 2 years of industry experience in medical device and product development.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills:
- Software Skills: Microsoft Office, Python basics.
- Strong interest in automated lab solutions, DNA detection, next-generation sequencing, and real-time PCR.
- Effective communication skills.
