Field Service Engineer (Water Treatment)
Philadelphia, PA area (40 miles North, South and East of Philadelphia)
25% – 70% Travel.

They design, supply, and service a range of water systems and monitoring equipment in industries ranging from pharmaceutical to food and beverage applications, and from microelectronics ultrapure water to municipal water and industrial wastewater treatment. They are one of the world’s leading manufacturers of total organic carbon (TOC) analyzers and corresponding certified reference materials. Their ground-breaking endotoxin analyzer is the latest addition to our expanding analytical instruments portfolio. Field Service Engineers (FSE’s) will provide routine to complex field service support at customer sites predominantly within the greater Philadelphia metropolitan area in addition to support of customers within Eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Northern Maryland. Support will include maintenance, verification, validation, repair, and calibration duties as well as troubleshooting operational issues. In addition the FSE may also be involved in providing field service and support for Sievers brand Endotoxin and Bioburden instrument product lines.
This position will require residency within the Greater Philadelphia area and within 1-hour drive of the Philadelphia (PHL) International Airport. Role is a Contract to Hire. Absolutely, positively, a Direct Hire only? Apply anyway, we still want to talk to you.
Key Characteristics:
We are looking for a resourceful person who is self-directed, enjoys working independently, and is attentive to details. An ideal candidate would prefer to organize their own planning, scheduling and confirmation of contiguous services while balancing varying priorities. We are looking for a candidate who would employ a scientific approach to the operation, maintenance, and repair of analytical instrumentation and is proficient at completing daily and weekly administrative responsibilities. Client focus and succinct & timely communication (written and verbal) are key elements for success in this role. We are looking for a candidate that is technically competent and has work experience in technical field support, customer support and experience in ultra-pure water applications or operation of analytical instrumentation in a lab environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Travel to customer sites and perform PM and related services on TOC equipment.
Plan, Schedule and Confirm customer services including coordination of travel and parts shipments for services.
Maintain admin duties, parts inventory and relevant trainings.
Take customer calls, participate in territory sales meetings, and service team meetings.
Respond to on-demand contract services with 3 or 7 business day response commitments for troubleshooting and repair.
Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on a variety of systems and equipment.
Perform analytical testing such as: turbidity, hardness, chlorine, pH, CO2, O2, SDI, TOC, in addition to various other site-specific testing requirements.
Maintain inventory of spare parts and adequate supply of chemicals and replacement parts.
Create and maintain site paperwork, and provide customers with detailed technical summaries of work performed.
Carry out mechanical, electrical and controls troubleshooting on equipment such as motors, PLC’s, VFD’s, valves, air compressors, ejectors, process pumps, blowers, and instrumentation.
Partner with customer management and operation teams to help advise on system performance, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Write clear and concise reports for customers.
Special projects and new hire training as assigned by supervisors.
25%- 70% travel.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma / GED / Home School Certification OR international equivalent and 2+ years’ experience of service/maintenance or equivalent in an industrial environment.
The right entry level candidate with no industry experience with a Bachelor’s may be considered- Bachelor or Associates Degree in Science/Engineering (STEM), or technical certificate in Instrumentation, Controls or programming and/or water treatment equipment.
UF/MBR Working experience with PLC control systems, PLC programming and troubleshooting would be a huge plus.
This role requires quite a bit of travel within territory, so you’ll need to have a valid driver’s license. Sometimes emergency service is required. When it happens, you may be asked to step in and save the day – Client works hard to make sure on-call schedules are balanced, but they are part of the role.
Ability to gain and maintain access to the customer sites assigned, including nuclear Facilities.

Additional Notes:
As far as moving up in the organization, Roamers move to permanent Customer Representatives at a specific site, or Roamers become Managers.
Many Area Managers and Directors start out in this very role!
Based out of Philadelphia, surrounding Customers you’d be travelling to, no more than a 100- 200-mile radius
Travel 40%-60% and at times up to 80% (role is mostly work from home when not travelling)
Travel areas for this role will be-
North of PA, to Delaware state line
Also possibly West over to Delta, PA, then up to 3 mile island, by Milltown, PA
Also South around towards the East, Belvedere, NJ.
