Construction Materials Technician-Houston, TX 

Kelly Science & Clinical is currently recruiting for a Construction Materials Technician for one of our clients, an engineering consulting firm, in Houston, TX. 

As a Construction Materials Technician you will be responsible for conducting field or laboratory testing, sampling, and/or inspection services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contact dispatcher/coordinator for priorities and deadlines in both the field and laboratory.

  • Meet with contractor’s supervisors, engineer/architect representatives or other project leaders on project sites to discuss and coordinate testing, sampling, or inspection of construction materials or construction procedures.

  • Ensure the safe utilization, storage and maintenance of all nuclear gauges.

  • Update supervisor and dispatcher on progress and delays on every project.

  • Ensure safe usage and maintenance of individually assigned company vehicle, field and laboratory equipment.

  • Meet established project deadlines.

  • Submit accurate and complete testing/inspection reports on a daily basis.

  • Understand, adhere and participate in the Raba Kistner Health and Safety and (BBS) Behavior Based Safety Programs and set a good safety example.

  • Lift and carry up to 65 pounds to include, but not limited to tools, sample containers and equipment.

  • Potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction or roadway sites; potential exposure to hazardous dangerous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; all of which would require employee to follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment.

  • Position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs. Work responsibilities require out of town/overnight travel to Raba Kistner offices, client offices and project locations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school or GED certification.

  • At least 1 year of applicable experience in the Materials Testing and Inspection Industry.

  • ACI certification preferred, but not required.

  • Possession of one or more certifications, such as TxDOT SB 102, TxDOT Level 1A, TxDOT Level 1B, NICET Soils or Concrete, ICC Certifications, or other relevant certifications may result in higher compensation

  • Verbal and written skills to communicate problems, status of work, daily reports, etc.

  • Math skills to analyze sample results.

  • Ability to work outside and work on equipment.

  • Ability to read and understand instructions, labels, reports, etc.

Job Details:

  • Contract

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-5

  • Pay rate:$25-28 per hour DOE
