Job Title: Research Associate (Temporary) – Gunbarrel/Boulder County – CO

Job Type: Part-time, with potential to transition to full-time
Shift: Standard working hours M-F, with weekends/holidays as needed
Pay Rate: Level I: $25-$30/hr  Level II: $30-$40/hr (DOE)

Job Overview: We are seeking an eager and dedicated Junior Research Technician with experience in basic mammalian cell culture. This position is essential to support our research team by maintaining cell lines and assisting with various experiments. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree (minimum) and practical experience in maintaining cell lines and tissue culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cell Line Maintenance: Responsible for maintaining cell lines for 2-4 hours a day, including weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Tissue Culture: Perform tissue culture techniques and ensure the health and viability of cell cultures.

  • Experimental Support: Assist with downstream assays and support the lead Scientist in various experimental protocols.

  • Maintaining laboratory operations, preparation, and qualification of cell culture reagents, loading results into software systems

  • Supplying different types of adherents and/or suspension cell lines for cell-based assays, and improving cell production processes to accommodate clinical and developmental cell demands with proper documentation

  • Ensure that all work is to be done in a compliant manner according to relevant Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) guidelines

  • Complete required documentation for laboratory work

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology).

  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of experience in tissue culture. Experience gained during university studies is acceptable.

  • Willingness to learn and take on more advanced tasks over time.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a research team.

  • Proficiency with personal computers, including word processing, Excel, PowerPoint, and relevant scientific software.

  • Capacity to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and able to meet timelines.

  • Able to work with limited daily supervision.

  • Vaccination: Must be up-to-date with the Hepatitis B vaccine.

Desired Attributes:

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in tissue culture, cell assays development, flow cytometry, qPCR, and downstream processes.

  • Molecular Biology Techniques: Apply advanced knowledge of molecular biology, cancer, cell characteristics techniques, and gene expression.

Working Hours:

  • Part-time position with daily requirements of 2-4 hours for tissue culture.

  • Availability to work on weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Potential to transition to a full-time role based on performance and project needs
