Title: Engineer / Scientist – Sterilization Process
Location: Raritan, NJ
Duration: 6 months +

Overview

  • Title: Scientist I, Sterilization Process

  • Responsible for supporting radiation, gas & heat processing activities including sample processing, safety.

  • Responsible for executing sample processing activities in support of new product, process, packaging development & optimization, and validation of radiation, gas and heat sterilized healthcare (medical device and pharmaceuticals) and consumer products.

  • Responsible for simultaneously working on multiple initiatives in support of technical and service objectives for the JJMQSA focused on radiation, gas & heat sterilization.

Responsibilities

  • Support activities related to the processing of customer samples from across Company operating companies at the JJMQSA Raritan site.

  • Collaborate with external partners in the planning, execution and reporting of experiments.

  • Execute radiation, gas & heat sample processing in a timely manner to ensure optimal turn-around time for all requests.

  • Responsible to assist the Sterilization Lead in ensuring all ancillary radiation, gas & heat processing materials are stocked, calibrated and ready for use.

  • Meet all training requirements for all safety and security activities for all radiation, gas & heat.

  • Responsible for the completion of supported radiation, gas & heat sample processing requests including supporting documentation and reports.

  • Collate data and documentation for return to customers and generating completion reports.

  • Maintain quality and regulatory compliance in all aspects of work.

  • Support the requirements for Quality Systems activities (as required).

  • Support sample processing and equipment validation activities within the Sterilization Services Department.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; Engineering (Mechanical / Biomedical) is preferred

  • Open to entry level candidates and recent graduates

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to write and update standard operating procedures, protocols, test methods, reports and prepare Power Point presentations

  • Knowledgeable of good documentation practices/accurate record keeping of the work performed

  • The individual must be able to comply with established safety procedures and policies to maintain a safe working environment

  • Ensure compliance with Company environmental policies, pollution prevention goals, and regulatory requirements

  • Ability to cross-train on skills and responsibilities to operate all necessary equipment in multiple terminal sterilization modalities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a regulated industrial sterilization/microbiology setting

  • Working knowledge in Radiation, Gas and Heat sterilization such as e-beam, EO, steam, dry-heat, VHP, etc.

  • Experience supporting sterilization for medical devices and/or pharmaceuticals

  • Previous experience with mechanical equipment and ability to aid in trouble-shoot/fix ancillary equipment and systems

  • Experience with sterilization equipment and processes a plus.

Additional Information

  • Onsite / Full-time

  • Contract to hire: 6 months with opportunity to be hired direct, no guarantees
