Kelly® Engineering is seeking multiple Quality Engineers (at various levels of experience) for a direct-hire opportunity at an innovative battery manufacturing client in Marshall, Michigan! Multiple Quality Assurance positions available including:
- Incoming Quality Control (IQC) Engineers
- Process Quality Engineers (PQE)
- Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE)
Depending on the role qualified for, you will be involved in:
Incoming Material Quality Control:
- Inspect and verify the quality of incoming raw materials from suppliers.
- Ensure materials meet required specifications and standards.
- Document and report non-conformances and collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues.
In-Process Quality Control:
- Monitor and control the quality of in-process manufacturing to ensure compliance with standards.
- Develop and implement quality control plans and procedures for manufacturing processes.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address quality issues during production.
Production Line Inspection:
- Conduct regular inspections on the production line to ensure processes are followed correctly.
- Identify and rectify any deviations from quality standards during the production process.
- Work with production teams to ensure that quality checkpoints are adhered to throughout the manufacturing process.
Supplier Quality Assurance:
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality criteria and performance.
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Quality Management System:
- Develop and maintain quality assurance documentation, including quality manuals, procedures, and work instructions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure the effectiveness of the quality management system.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality processes and systems.
- Analyze quality data and metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to address recurring quality issues.
Training and Development
- Train and support production staff on quality control methods and standards.
- Develop training materials and conduct quality awareness sessions for employees.
Customer Quality Assurance:
- Manage customer complaints and feedback, ensuring timely resolution of quality issues.
- Work with customers to understand their quality requirements and ensure satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.
- Specific experience relevant to the role applied for (e.g., IQC, PQE, SQE, etc.).
- Strong understanding of quality control principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Proficiency in using quality management software and tools.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to implement effective corrective actions.
Preferred Certifications
- Certifications in quality management (e.g., CQE, CQA, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt).
- Familiar with ISO9000/TS16949/VDA quality system;
- Experience in the new energy or automotive battery sectors.
Travel
- This role will require travel to China for the initial onboarding and training
Physical requirements
- Ability to move around work sites, which may include walking, standing, and climbing ladders or stairs.
- Flexibility to bend, kneel, or crouch, particularly when inspecting installations or troubleshooting
- Capability to lift and carry moderate weights, typically up to 25-50 pounds
- Ability to work in various environments, including offices, construction sites, and manufacturing facilities.
