Job Description: We are currently seeking motivated and reliable Material Handlers/Pick and Pack Workers to join our book distribution center team in Gordonsville, VA. As a Material Handler, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and efficient picking, packing, and shipping of products. Successful candidates will have the physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including extended periods of standing and walking, as well as the ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
Responsibilities:
- Pull and prepare products for shipment, ensuring the correct quantity and type of items are accurately placed in the designated carton.
- Apply labels to cartons in the proper orientation for system scanners.
- Select appropriate carton sizes for shipping purposes.
- Utilize portable scanning devices and Pick-To-Voice system to confirm accurate picking operations.
- Record necessary adjustments for short shipments on the carton.
- Conduct visual inspections of books before placing them in shipping cartons.
- Pack books in a manner that ensures safe transit and secure packaging.
- Perform cycle counts as directed.
- Walk significant distances throughout the day to fulfill order picking requirements.
- Maintain quality control reports to monitor picking accuracy.
- Return over-picked and mis-picked items to the designated Pick Module.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution center preferred.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with handheld scanning devices and warehouse management systems is a plus.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
