Analytical Scientist II
Monday-Friday: 8:30am-5pm
Location: Lancaster SC
Salary: $90,000-$105,000/year
Position Summary:
The Analytical Scientist will independently develop and validate new analytical methods while providing technical support to various corporate groups, including Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report to Analytical Chemistry (AC) Management and perform Quality Control testing and data review to support timely product release.
- Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods for raw materials, finished products, and stability studies.
- Utilize Empower Software and other laboratory tools for chromatographic, spectroscopic, and wet chemistry analyses.
- Assess testing methodologies and evaluate results from contract laboratories to ensure compliance with agreed methods.
- Stay updated on technological trends and mentor chemists in method execution and validation study interpretation.
- Manage hazardous waste according to RCRA and SCDHEC regulations, ensuring proper handling and labeling.
- Communicate effectively across departments and contribute to team objectives.
Minimum Requirements:
- Proficient in developing methods for chromatographic, spectroscopic, and wet chemistry analyses.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with laboratory instruments.
- In-depth knowledge of analytical method development and specification setting.
- Familiarity with various laboratory instruments (FTIR, HPLC, GC, LC-MS, etc.) and characterization of botanical compounds.
- Experience with effective sample preparation techniques and knowledge of statistical methods for data analysis.
- Thorough understanding of FDA and ICH regulations, with experience in GLP/GMP environments.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of experience in analytical method development for nutraceuticals or pharmaceuticals in a GMP setting; a Master’s degree with 5 years of experience is preferred.
- Degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work on the bench as part of the Analytical Chemistry team.
